Spring 2014 Session
9 weeks, March 24 – May 20, 2014
Mondays and Tuesdays, 7:00–9:00 pm Beginning fencers are strongly encouraged to take the 6-week beginning fencing class. If you have fenced previously, you can become a member at any time. Dues are $150, payable in full by the first day of the session. Dues for additional family members are $130. A separate USA Fencing membership is required. The cost is $5 for a noncompetitive membership and $70 if you plan to compete. (A noncompetitive can be upgraded to a competitive later, if desired.) Membership is good for 1 year and expires on July 31. See the USA Fencing website (http://www.usfencing.org) for details of membership. Membership allows you to attend all classes and open practice sessions and grants you use of the fencing equipment owned by the club, including uniforms, masks, gloves, and swords. Long-term members are encouraged to begin buying their own equipment after 1 year to allow new members access to the club’s gear. Dues are nonrefundable. Coaching and open practices take place in the second-floor gymnasium of the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington, 311 S Lincoln St., from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Coaching for epee is held on Mondays from 7:00 to 8:00 pm and coaching for saber is held on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Private lessons are available by arrangement with a coach for an additional fee. Fencers are encouraged to try both swords and to stay for bouting whenever possible. Members (or their parents) are encouraged to contribute to the running of the club in any way they can (e.g., cleaning up after meetings and returning equipment to the locker or volunteering to be on the organizing committee). To register, bring the completed BFC Regular Membership Form and the USA Fencing membership application and waiver of liability to your first meeting. Please include a check payable to “Bloomington Fencing Club” for dues and a separate check made out to “USA Fencing” (or list your credit-card information on the USAF application). Alternatively, you can register or renew your USAF membership online and bring proof of membership to the first meeting. You will not be allowed to fence without completing a USAF membership application or providing proof of current membership. Questions? Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
